The Hamilton Watch Company was considered to be America's premier watch maker. The company was established in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1892 and continued US production up to around 1969 with a total of 12,803,207 timepieces produced overall. Hamilton pocket watches exhibit the style and quality on which the company built its reputation. The company was sold in the early 1970s to the Swiss conglomerate SSIH which became SMH in 1985, and later The Swatch Group. The Hamilton brandname continues today under Swiss ownership. The watches displayed in this collection were all produced prior to the sale of the company and contain US-made movements.
